States Of Modern: Texas
How appropriate that Texas is our state this week! The International Quilt Festival is going on now (Oct 29-Nov 1, 2015). It is the largest annual quilt show, sale and quiltmaking academy in the world. If you’ve never been, make plans to go!
IQF is spectacular and awe-inspiring. They say things are bigger in Texas and that is certainly true of this Quilt Show. It is huge with hundreds of the finest quilts, tons of vendors, wonderful classes and tours to museums and quilt shops. It’s been a while since I’ve attended. I want to go back to Texas and IQF. Maybe next year!

Here’s a Sampler of 9-Patch blocks, all set in spools… A real quilter’s dream! You can increase your skills and have a stitch in’ good time while making this beautiful, traditional quilt.
I have set it up (in my computer!) to be a masculine quilt with tan spools set in a light blue background, then brown and
darker blue for the 9-patch based blocks on a light (muslin) background a with a few sky blue
accents. But I have seen this quilt made in glorious florals and luscious batiks as well. So let your creativity run free!
No matter what fabrics you use, this 9-Patch Spool Sampler is, all in all, a great study of techniques and value! Finished size of this 9-Patch Spool Sampler varies from80″ X 80″ to 87” X 87” (depending on how you set the blocks) with sixteen different 15” finished blocks.
