Repeat Revolution Week Three

Are you having fun yet? Are those hexagons too much fun? Now to start putting them together…
Repeat Revolution

Here’s a method to put these hexes together with no set in seams.  Add triangles to two opposite sides of the hex to create a diamond shape.

Repeat Revolution Hex with Triangles

All these added  triangles are cut from 5″ strips in just the same way you cut the triangles for your hexes. Then every row goes together easily!

Lyn, that graphic up above is “worth the price of admission” so to speak. I have drug out my old Stack and Whack ufo, hexagon star version, from back in 2002 and hope to get it finished up this year. Boy, did my notes get cold!

The blocks are mostly done but for some reason I thought I wanted 25 (or more!) for a larger throw or whatever—-who remembers at this point. I think I can get those extra blocks out of the yardage set aside for borders. In either case it probably be re-configured so I appreciate the EQ insights as well. I’ll fiddle with however many blocks I squeeze out there.

Still, when I pulled the project bag out a week or so ago it is almost like I was paralyzed with the “what do I do now? feeling as much now, as 2002. I found your posts on repeat revolution at just the right time! The books diagrams were just confusing me.

One picture is worth a thousand words. Now I see how to piece those sections. I am not cutting now (awaiting my 2nd cataract surgery and equal vision before attempting it) but when I do, this project is going to be moved along! THX for all you do for the quilting world, Lyn. So many great ideas—January swap gray study looks interesting!

    Hi lyn,
I love your hexagons. I was wanting to draw up some plans for my accuquilt hexagons abd equilateral triangles using Electric quilt 7, do you use EQ7 and if so how do you create a layout and blocks for hexagons and triangles?

      Hi Jo,
I’m still using EQ6 and this is what I do. Go to Quilt; New Quilt; One Patch (below horizontal and on point). That makes a layout. Then go over to the layout box that has the blocks across # and vertical #. Click on the patch type to bring down the menu. I changed it to equilateral triangles and went from there. Hope it helps!
