Mid Century Modern Sampler Quilt Block 4 Fullerton Bowl

As I drive down the 91 Fwy heading to my classes in northwest Orange County, I can just spy the Fullerton Bowl up near the overpass. As I started to plan this quilt, I knew I had to include the iconic diamond shapes of their sign.

I am tickled with how this block turned out. Instead of the word BOWL I opted to put the year on the sign. But don’t worry… I’ve included a 5 and a 6 on the pattern as well for those of us who, well,  just might not get this quilt done this year…or next year!  It’s a fun block to make… You don’t have to think TOO hard… Here is the Pattern PDF Link…

Congratulations to all of you on your grandson! It is so exciting!

Do you have a mockup of the Mid-Century Modern quilt? Mine is going to be Mid-Century Mod-Squad (I decided to use batik scraps on black background. The Sputnik block has a different background which inspired me to do it in the first place. This may or may not work based on the layout. I do not have enough of this background fabric to use it throughout (purchased in 2005) but I think it will work for the “theme” fabric. It does have a black background with muted colored dots that coordinate with the batik colors making the Sputnik look like it is in outer space.
