Our previous block was inspired by artist Piet Mondrian (Tustin Color Block) and this block is inspired by artist Alexander Calder. Similarly, Calder was influenced (or as Wikipedia says “shocked”) by Mondrian to embrace abstract art. Lucky for us!

OH! Here is a Surprise SECOND MCM block for the week!
Palm Springs is the epicenter of the Mid Century Modern Revival. The desert town sprouted up during the post war era and there is Mid Century Architecture all over town. But for many, the most stunning feature of Palm Springs are the fabulous San Jacinto Mountains the city is nestled against. It is these mountains this block honors.
