Announcing The 2014 Lyn Brown Summer Mystery: Game On!

The Design Is Set! And The Game Is On! Your challenge is to get ready to solve our Summer 2014 Mystery Quilt: Game On! The Game On Supply List is linked in this post.

So here’s how this works: Gather the supplies listed on the Game On (75″ X 75″) Supply List (Linked below).
The colors I used in the design sample are listed for your reference but don’t let that limit you.
Think about the colors you want to use for your quilt. The sample quilt is blues, greens and yellow on white and it is fresh and modern. But you could do red, blue and gold on beige for an Americana look or green, red and white on gold for Christmas. How about team/school colors? Or Halloween or… You get it! Make it your own!
So gather up your fabrics and check back on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 for the first clue. There will be one clue a week (each revealed on a Tuesday) with a total of six clues. At the end, the design will be revealed and your quilt will be complete! (If you have followed along!)

Will this quilt look good if you make it scrappy?
    Thanks!

Michelle, this would be a great Scrappy Quilt. Just have a bit more total scrap “yardage” for each color than is called for on the supply list to allow for waste.

What size is the Mystery Quilt? The size will help me decide on colors to use (one color combination for a lap size and perhaps a different combination for a queen size.

      Hi Barbara,
The quilt is 75″ X 75″. I put the size on the Supply List PDF, but I probably should have the size in the post as well. I will edit the post.
      Thanks…Lyn

    are these to be solids?

Hi Misty… The fabrics should “Read” as the color so they can be solids or tone on tones or batiks or prints that read as semi solids.

      Hope that helps…

I’m a little confused on the fabric. We need both a bright and dark? So we’d use a bright blue and a dark blue and a bright green and a dark green? Am I reading it right?
Thanks so much for the mystery. Will be a good way to spend my summer!

Yes, Karen. That’s exactly right. For example, you would use a forest green and a lime green, along with a navy blue and a bright royal blue. The two shades add sparkle and depth to the design.
