I’ve often thought quiltmaking is much like film making. You choose a pattern as your “script”. Then pull together your “cast” of fabrics, You might even make a practice block as a “rehearsal”. Then you set to work…putting together each scene or block and hoping that, in the end, it all matches your vision. Sometimes the cast works beautifully together and your project wins awards. Other times… well, we’ve all seen those results!
Sunset and Vine is an Oscar® worthy quilt… with its array of stars and that “Walk of Fame” path running through it. And yet, broken down, each unit is easy to put together. The pattern takes it slow, describing each unit completely and when it all comes together, well, get ready for a standing ovation!
It’s always a red letter day for me when I put another pattern up on Craftsy. In this case, I have been working towards this premiere for a long time. I have hesitated putting up these past mystery patterns. Obviously, I want to show the completed quilt and this one makes up so beautifully.
The patterns are in step by step sequence breaking the quilt into manageable pieces but I don’t want to call them Mysteries because, well, I guess you might say, the mystery is gone, for the quilt has been revealed.
