Let’s try this again… While at the Retreat last week, I worked on a UFO from a few years back. I’m so glad I did because I absolutely love this quilt! After doing a search (using the search box to the right) here on the site, I found the pattern is gone so I thought I would post it to Craftsy for free for a limited time…
This started as a swap of 10″ squares of Kaffe Fassett fabrics. The unusual design was prepped for fusible appliqué, fused to background squares and stitched. That was the pile of blocks I brought to the retreat. I cut the sashes and cornerstones and, using my Ls of Sashing technique, I put the center together.
It’s still a UFO but now it’s a whole quilt center instead of a pile of blocks. Eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later, I will put borders on it.
Showing it in class this week, we discussed how wonderful this would also be in other fabrics… Christmas, Patriotic, Asian! Wow! ALSO NOTE: I combined A and B on the pattern below together and cut one large piece… the whole block design out of one piece… these single pieces look sort of like an octopus with 8 arms!
See how each block design is just one fabric fused and cut into the shape with eight petals or arms or spokes… each block has just one piece of fabric appliqued onto the background. This method really shows off your beautiful fabrics. It is way fun!
